Mount Olympus and Dion: A walk in the path of Gods
Sunday 18 April 2021 / 09:00 – 17:00
A walk in the path of Gods leads you to Litohoro, a small town located at the base of Mount Olympus, Greece’s highest mountain and home of the twelve Gods of Greek mythology. Litohoro is a popular destination for those wishing to climb Mount Olympus. An extended coastal area known as Plaka Litohorou is located east of the town where a wide range of restaurants and cafes are found offering astonishing views of the mountain.
Olympus is rich in trees and plant life, supporting over 1700 species, some very rare. You may need warm clothes, even in the summer. During the tour, you will visit the Archaeological Park and the Archaeological Museum of Dion, one of the biggest archaeological sites in Greece. The city used to be very sacred to the ancient Macedonians and Alexander the Great would make sacrifices to the Gods before starting a new campaign to conquer the world.
Price: 75€ /person (includes lunch)
Domaine Anestis Babatzimopoulos – Ossa
Wednesday 21 April 2021 / 17:00 – 21:00 (including degustation)
Anestis Babatzimopoulos’ winery is situated on the slopes of Vertiscos, in Ossa. The winery`s wines are produced from organically cultivated grapes, grown at the privately-owned vineyard. The visit starts at the reception centre, where you will get a map and other necessary information and will be led to a tour of the vineyards before heading to the winery. In the production areas of the winery, you can watch the way and stages of fermentation, the preparation and constancy of wine.
The bottling section is an area where the wine which is ready and ripe is being bottled in order for it to be moved to the basement for the sake of the ageing process, as well as for it to be preserved or maintained. You will have a very interesting tour in the wine-vault where you will get familiar with the various vintages of wine as the bottles have been laid slantwise. This underground area shelters objects, utensils and tools which have been used at work for 2 centuries. This area separates the bottled wine from that which goes through the ageing process in oak barrels. This wandering ends up in with an audio-visual presentation.
After the presentation, wine degustation accompanied by matching dishes, will take place while enjoying nature and the magnificent view!
Price: 55€ / person (includes wine degustation)
